Two bedrooms plus mezzanine in stone house with garden, pool. Possibility of mooring boat in village. |
Situated in a village beside the River Saone, this converted barn is approached down a shared land off a village side-road. At the property, enter directly into the superb open-plan living room of 70m2. No expense has been spared here: the floor tiles are hand made, the breathtaking fireplace, which rises to the rafters, was reclaimed from a historic house in Cluny, and the splendid oak staircase and balustrade were made by a renowned local artisan. The room is L-shaped, with a relaxing area by the fire and a separate dining area close to the corner kitchen area.
The kitchen is compact...ok, small! The property has only been used as guest accommodation and as the property owners have their own kitchen nearby, development of the cooking area has never been an issue. However, there is a room attached to the kitchen, currently used for storage, so there is potential to extend into it.
Also on the ground floor there is a bathroom with bath, washbasin and WC. This could do with updating, purely from an aesthetic point of view.
From the living room, the magnificent staircase leads to a mezzanine room, used as a den/TV room or supplementary bedroom. There are also two double bedrooms on this floor.
To the rear of the house there is a terrace, with french doors from the living room, with a view across fields to the River Saone.
The garden of 1400m2 is private, with shrubs and at least one mature tree for shade. The pool has all the appropriate filtering equipment and a counter-current machine. The equipment is housed in attractive "Deauville" huts.
There is an outbuilding attached to the house, suitable for storing garden furniture, for example.
The village has a riverside restaurant, open in the summer months, and there are mooring possibilities for boats, overseen by a local resident. |
