Le Sabot de Venus
Arole Dupaty 21290 Bure les Templiers +333 80 81 00 28 Fax : 03 80 81 08 76 lesabotdevenus@laposte.net
"Hidden in the Chatillonnais forests north of Dijon, it took us 3 years to discover this restaurant and we now eat there whenever we can and nowhere else. The quality of food is excellent and we have not met a chef who can create better sauces than the modest chef, Arole Dupaty. On the day of our most recent visit, we arrived slightly later than normal and had difficulty parking. The clients were as usual mixed from local workers, businessmen and opposite us a Parisian family clearly pleased with the quality of the menu.
Following an aperitif of speciality white beer, we ordered as usual the plat de jour. The entrée of crudités – shredded carrot, bean
sprouts and watercress flavoured with a light cumin and honey sauce dressed with a vinaigrette of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and oil of cameline which is now on our list to find. Main course was roast pork with a herb crust in a sweet onion sauce and a “boule” of light and fragrant rice. Local bread ensured that the plates were spotlessly clean.A “gout” of cheese following with 3 pieces of Burgundy cheeses – although the alternative of Fromage Blanc from the fromagerie in nearby Origny is an excellent alternative.
Dessert of chocolate mousse cake followed with an invigorating raspberry sauce and finished with an espresso coffee. The quality was excellent as normal and the price including speciality beer, a carafe of wince and coffee – 14 euros per person. For an extra special treat, try one of the speciality menus at 23.50 euros and 31.50 euros. Booking in advance recommended to avoid disappointment. "
